Strokes are the fifth-leading cause of death and leading cause of long-term disability in the U.S.  Stroke risk increases with age; however, strokes can occur at any age.  This module will review the types of stroke and their risk factors, the signs and symptoms and clinical manifestations, response, long-term nursing management and more.

Objectives

  1. Identify signs and symptoms of an impending stroke.
  2. Discuss nursing considerations for long-term management of the older adult following a stroke.
  3. Discuss how to appropriately communicate assessment and clinical findings of the older adult to health care providers.

Online Module

When completing the on-line module you will be presented with learning objectives, brief cases, questions for reflection (not scored), and interactive lessons with hyperlinks to engage you along the way. Once you complete the lessons, you will be presented with the Post Test (which requires a score of 80%) and then the Module Evaluation, followed by the opportunity to print your Continuing Education Certificate. Modules remain available for your future reference once you have completed them.
