1.0 Continuing Education Credit Hour
Out of over 850,000 adults hospitalized with community-acquired pneumonia in 2010, 71% were 65 years of age or older. If not treated in a timely manner, symptoms may progress. This module will help you identify the signs and symptoms of pneumonia, perform nursing assessments of nursing home residents, and understand causes, treatment and prevention strategies.
- Describe how to complete a thorough nursing assessment for a patient with suspected pneumonia.
- Identify specific nursing considerations for suspected pneumonia in the older adult.
- Discuss how to appropriately communicate clinical findings between care providers.
When completing the on-line module you will be presented with learning objectives, brief cases, questions for reflection (not scored), and interactive lessons with hyperlinks to engage you along the way. Once you complete the lessons, you will be presented with the Post Test (which requires a score of 80%) and then the Module Evaluation, followed by the opportunity to print your Continuing Education Certificate. Modules remain available for your future reference once you have completed them.
